Bamboo Toothbrush

Say goodbye to your old plastic toothbrush! Choosing to use a zero waste bamboo toothbrush is a great environmentally conscious choice for your pearly whites! Did you know over 4.7 billion wasteful plastic handle toothbrushes are dumped in landfills every year worldwide? The average person uses about 300 conventional plastic toothbrushes in their lifetime. How about choosing the sustainable alternative to disposable plastic toothbrushes by brushing with a biodegradable toothbrush!

This perfect brush has a biodegradable 100% organic bamboo handle. The growers harvest this sustainable bamboo organically and in the wild which means they do not use pesticides or fertilizers. We proudly display our USDA Biobased and Green America certifications.  These brushes have a smooth ergonomic handle and they are also vegan and cruelty free, BPA-Free, natural and non-toxic. Brush with Bamboo uses moso bamboo for all of their bamboo handles.

The composition of the bristles includes 62% Castor Bean Oil and 38% toxic-free nylon bristles. The bristles of this toothbrush are biobased, but still not biodegradable unfortunately. All in all, we think our toothbrush is a “step in the right direction” because it results in less than 0.1 ounces of plastic waste (bristles), whereas the conventional plastic toothbrush is all plastic. If you’re looking for completely biodegradable bristles there are non-vegan versions available that include pig hair.

End of Life Disposal: You can commercially compost both the cardboard box packaging and the bamboo toothbrush handle at a local facility. You could also recycle the zero waste packaging. You will need to throw the bristles into the garbage. We also love the idea of upcycling your bamboo toothbrush when possible. A bamboo toothbrush handle makes the perfect garden marker. It’s a simple way to give your brush a second life! We also use our old toothbrushes for cleaning grout in the bathroom.

Your biodegradable bamboo toothbrush can be used for as long as a plastic toothbrush. We like to change ours out ever 3-4 months.

The Hydrophil brush has a smaller head, ideal for smaller mouths, in my opinion. I really love both brands of eco-friendly toothbrushes! They both offer great brushes made with sustainable materials.
