Choosing to use a bamboo toothbrush is a great environmentally conscious choice for your home! Did you know over 4.7 billion plastic toothbrushes are dumped in landfills every year worldwide? How about choosing the sustainable alternative to disposable plastic toothbrushes by brushing with a biodegradable toothbrush!
These toothbrushes have biodegradable handles made from 100% bamboo. The growers harvest this bamboo organically and in the wild which means they do not use pesticides or fertilizers. We proudly display our USDA Biobased and Green America certifications. They are also vegan and cruelty free, BPA-Free, natural and non-toxic.
This product plants trees. We plant a tree for every order in the Tiny Yellow Bungalow shop!
The composition of the bristles includes 62% Castor Bean Oil and 38% nylon. These bristles are biobased, but still not biodegradable unfortunately. All in all, we think our toothbrush is a “step in the right direction” because it results in less than 0.1 ounces of plastic waste (bristles), whereas the conventional plastic toothbrush is all plastic. If you’re looking for completely biodegradable bristles there are non-vegan versions available that include pig hair.
Remember you can commercially compost both the paper box packaging and the bamboo toothbrush handle.
Your bamboo toothbrush can be used for as long as a plastic toothbrush.
You can also purchase a family 4 pack of Bamboo Toothbrushes in the Tiny Yellow Bungalow zero waste shop.
Did you know we also have kid sized brushes available in our zero waste online shop? Check them out here!
We also carry the Hydrophil brand of bamboo toothbrush in case you want to try out a different style bamboo toothbrush. The Hydrophil brush has a smaller brush head, ideal for smaller mouths, in my opinion. I really love both brands of toothbrushes!
